As Catherine was lighting the myriad of candles scattered around the livingroom, she heard Vincent's gentle knock on her balcony door.  Her heart leapt from her breast at the sound. She opened the doors and smiled up at him, once again struck by his beauty, and the knowledge he was becoming hers more and more with each passing day.  Looking upon her love with such desire as she said “Hello Vincent.  Please come in. I am almost ready.”

And with out reservation Vincent entered her apartment.

She welcomed him with a heartfelt embrace. As she looked up into his sparkling blue eyes, she knew that he had sustained his acceptance of the their newly professed love to each other. It seemed so often, that they would take one step forward, and two steps back, but tonight Vincent and she were as one in their hearts.

Vincent looked down at his Catherine and whispered,  “Catherine, you look so . . . so very beautiful.”

She blushed at these words from him. Although he often looked at her lovingly, and with admiration, he had never put these thoughts into words before.  She lowered her eyes in a bashful fashion, and when she lifted them again, she held Vincent’s searing passionate gaze, which seemed to go straight through her heart, right into her soul.

Catherine broke the spell by expressing her surprise that it was snowing! “Oh Vincent, I didn’t know that it started to snow! How perfectly lovely for Valentine’s Day.   It's so beautiful!”  She turned in his arms to look out onto the balcony, then with a joyful innocence, she smiled up at him.  It was hard to believe that he was standing here, with her inside her apartment, and they were looking outward, instead of the other way around.  Oh, how she had prayed for this day, and now, it seemed that slowly, one by one,  her prayers were being answered. Looking up at him, as he watched the fluffy white flakes fall silently from the night sky, Catherine once more thought how beautiful he was.

“Yes Catherine,  the snow falling does add an enchanting element to this romantic evening. Perhaps, it’s a sign that someone in the Heavens, is looking down…and smiling on us.”

“Yes, perhaps they are.”

Realizing he was becoming lost in her eyes, he said, “Shall we go Catherine?   We mustn’t be late.”

Picking up the Valentine's Day gift she was giving him, she said,  “Vincent,  shall I bring your gift along for you to open below at the party, or …” Catherine continued, temptingly, “...would you like to open it now?”

He stepped nearer, took her hands in his and looked down at her for a moment.  “I thought we could open them here, Catherine, after the celebration. If you will permit me to walk you, back home again tonight. I thought you would enjoy a walk through the park... with the snow falling so beautifully.”

Catherine looked back at Vincent lovingly, and said, “Yes Vincent, I would love that.”

Catherine gather up everything she needed to take with her then turn and smiled at Vincent as he prepared to make his descent from the balcony.  “See you in a moment, Vincent.”

They had agreed to meet at the basement threshold.  Vincent was there, waiting for his Catherine by the time she had arrived.  She handed down the packages containing the cookies and the music for the party.  As she started to climb down herself, she felt Vincent’s strong hands on her waist.  He'd reached up to help her down the steps that led her from her world  into his below.

In a breathless voice Catherine whispered,  “Thank you, Vincent.”   She thought of how even the most innocent of physical contact with Vincent could effect her!

Vincent too marveled at the passionate energy he derived from touching Catherine!  He hadn't expected to feel such an excitement from this gentlemenly gesture! “You are most Welcome Catherine.” he said, in a voice rich with passion.

They stood there for just a moment reaching through their bond, feeling what the other was feeling, and knowing what the other was thinking, and wanting what the other was wanting.  However, the most dominating feeling of all, they could truly sense how very much devoted they were to one another. There was a romantic tension between them tonight, and it was thrilling.

Finally, Vincent gathered up the packages and offered his free hand to Catherine.  “Catherine take my hand, I will lead you through the darkened tunnels.”

“Yes Vincent, lead the way, I will gladly follow you anywhere.” She answered, placing her hand in his.

As they walked she held tightly to his hand, not ever wanting to let go. He made her feel so safe and so very cozily at home inside of her heart. Vincent stirred something deeply inside her.   She just wanted to love him and make him as happy as he made her.

The walk through the tunnels gave them time to calm and ease the nervousness that they possessed. So, by the time they neared the Great Hall, they were talking comfortably and easily with each other once again.
